Internal Plasterboard Partitions

The internal walls of a building play a fundamental role in defining the safety and quality of the indoor spaces. Depending on the construction needs and the intended use of a building, internal walls are distinguished by certain characteristics, including thermal and acoustic insulation, fire safety, seismic resistance, indoor air quality (prevention of mold and VOC emissions), and the integration of utilities.

FIBRAN addresses these design requirements by offering a range of gypsum plasterboards and related dry construction solutions. The applications are varied and suitable for all sectors of construction: residential, industrial, hospitality, educational, and healthcare (e.g., FIBRANgyps P – a board laminated with lead foil for radiological and acoustic protection). Additionally, they are suitable for:

• New constructions
• Renovation and redevelopment projects
• Creating partition walls within the same environment (e.g., a partition wall between the kitchen and the bedroom)
• Partition walls between different units

Internal Walls, Plasterboards for Internal Partitions

FIBRAN plasterboards, adaptable to different construction needs and types of interventions, are characterized by their versatility of application. They can be used to create internal walls in environments where one or more of the following requirements are needed:

• Moisture Resistance

For humid environments such as bathrooms and kitchens, FIBRAN offers construction solutions with FIBRANgyps H boards (low water absorption). There are two types of FIBRANgyps H plasterboards: FIBRANgyps H1 (total water absorption < 5% by weight and surface water absorption < 180 g/m2) and FIBRANgyps H2 (total water absorption < 10% by weight and surface water absorption < 220 g/m2).

• Fire Resistance

For fire safety, FIBRAN offers construction solutions with standard gypsum boards (FIBRANgyps A and FIBRANgyps H) and FIBRANgyps F boards, with a fire reaction class of A2-s1,d0 and even A1 (particularly suitable for wall and ceiling cladding in corridors or escape routes in hotels). The construction solutions made with FIBRAN boards have obtained fire resistance classes: EI180, REI and EI 120, REI and EI 90, and EI 60.

• Mechanical Resistance

FIBRAN internal wall solutions perform excellently in mechanical resistance tests. The top of the range is the FIBRAN SUPER board, which has passed the mechanical resistance tests required by the ETAG003 standard; this makes them suitable for high-traffic areas where they are more exposed to impacts and abrasions.

• Acoustic Insulation

FIBRAN solutions for acoustic insulation are varied and applicable to dry internal walls, internal brick walls, or X-Lam walls. You can choose from construction solutions with gypsum plasterboards coupled with insulating material (FIBRANgyps DOUBLE) or solutions with a FIBRANprofiles metal structure covered by FIBRANgyps plasterboards with FIBRANgeo stonewool insulation panels installed inside the cavity.

• Safety and Health of Environments and Their Occupants

To improve indoor air quality and neutralize most of the VOCs present in the environment, FIBRAN has developed CARE technology. An innovative board, designed to protect the health and safety of the occupants, available in three variants: FIBRANgyps CARE, FIBRANgyps HydroCARE, and FIBRANgyps SuperCARE.
